Only
a few PRR J-1s remaining...

The 2-10-4 locomotive models arrived in the fall
of 2002. You can check our In Stock page to
see if there are any remaining for sale and for
pricing. The C&O T-1s are SOLD out, and the few
remaining PRR J-1s are going fast. If you're thinking
about one, you may want to purchase one before the last
ones are gone!
Here are some close-up photos of the details on these

The C&O purchased forty mammoth 2-10-4 T-1 locomotives
from Lima Locomotive Works in 1930. These monsters routinely
pulled 165 cars from Russell, Kentucky through Ohio
to Toledo. The Pennsy, caught between the completion
of the electrification of the westward trackage and
the breakout of World War II, needed new freight power
for the increase in new traffic. The Pennsy chose the
C&O's 2-10-4 design and added some PRR characteristics.
These Texas Types could handle far more tonnage than
any conventional PRR predecessor. They reduced the need
for the double-heading in heavy freight service.
The Models
River Raisin imported two versions of these
2-10-4's. The models were built in Korea by Boo Rim Precision
with a smooth as silk Swiss Maxxum motor. They
have all the correct details with the quality you have
come to expect from River Raisin. If you liked the Berks,
then you will love the T-1/J-1's.
