canvas_new.gif Announcing the USRA 0-6-0 Switcher Project

ROADNAMES PLANNED
Baltimore & Ohio, CB&Q, C&NW, CNJ, Grand Trunk, Maine Central,
Nickel Plate, NYC (Chicago Junction), Pennsylvania, Texas & Pacific, Union Pacific, and factory painted models with no lettering.

Other roads acquiring the USRA 0-6-0 – ACL, CGW, CStPM&O, CRI&P, M&O(GM&O), NKP, OSL, Pennsylvania, PCC&SrL, Pennsylvania LW, P&WV, Seaboard Airline, Washington Terminal, StL SF,TRRA

Beginning in 1916, railroads began ordering a total of 255 0-6-0 switchers built to the United States Railroad Administration design standards. After delivery, many railroads either modified the USRA design tender to an extended vision tender or supplied a replacement tender. Other than placement of the headlight, the locomotive remained the same throughout most of their useful lives.

River Raisin Models is requesting reservations for the USRA 0-6-0 steam switcher in DC scale and DC hi-rail brass. Our builder, Boo Rim Precision, will build these models to our usual high standards. He has worked with us to develop a project that will have multiple road names with the different appliances and tenders that are appropriate to the different roads. There will be at least two locomotive numbers available for each railroad version. Each version planned will be built if sufficient reservations for that road name are received. Modelers will have the choice of standard USRA tender or an extended vision tender. A few versions will have road specific tenders.

River Raisin will be importing these models for delivery in 2011. These models will include the features and quality that you have grown to expect from River Raisin Models. The models will come DCC ready with a 9 pin wiring harness already installed.

Special Pre-production pricing of $1299 (painted  & lettered), $1199 (unpainted) is available until August 1, 2010. Pre-production pricing after August 1 increases $100 per model. Post-production pricing is $1499 (painted & lettered).

Reserve your locomotive with a non-refundable deposit of $300 per locomotive. For additional information please write, or call us at: (248) 366-9621,  or email at info@riverraisinmodels.com.

Prototype Photos

We are still researching these locomotives and can use specific data and details for the different roads, especially the tenders. If you have tender drawings to share we can make these models as accurate as possible.  Maine Central is not shown in a photo as we are still in search of good photos of MEC #175 & #176.

Here are some photos of the various prototypes.

The latest Southern Pacific project from River Raisin Models is the Southern Pacific MT-4 and MT-5 4-8-2s (aka Mountains). Thirty one units were built between 1926 and 1930 -- twenty-one MT-4s between 1926 and 1929, and ten MT-5s between 1929 and1930. All with built by Southern Pacific in their Sacramento Shops. The Mountains were workhorses of both fast passenger and freight duties.

River Raisin Models has assembled an array of Southern Pacific steam locomotives that will serve as a basis for your SP steam roster. Our builder is Boo Rim Precision.  The project included all nine different versions with many different appliances and tenders to choose from. This is the most diverse project we have embarked on yet. River Raisin imported these models for delivery in 2008. These models include the features and qualities that you have grown to expect from River Raisin Models. We are working with our builder to include a 9 pin DCC wiring harnes already installed. Announcing Milwaukee Road's Rib Sided Cabooses
in two versions and both in S scale and hi-rail brass

No caboose on any railroad was more identifiable with the railroad that built them than the Milwaukee Road’s  “rib-siders”.  The road’s welded, rib-sided construction built by the craftsmen of the Milwaukee Shops, proved to be lighter yet stronger than the more typical construction methods. Between 1939 and 1951, Milwaukee built 315 bay-window, rib-sided cabooses. Seven different varieties of the “rib-siders” were built over the years with modifications and improvements added to the design.  River Raisin has built two of the versions that operated during the entire time period these cabooses ran. The cabooses lasted longer than the railroad did.

River Raisin has these models available in either the 1939 original or 1949 versions and also with scale or hi-rail wheels and couplers.

Original Version with Milwaukee Road designed passenger-type straight frame trucks used on cabooses #01800-01924. This version will be lettered with the original "Milwaukee Road" lettering. Also available in the modernized paint scheme.

(some details in photo not being produced by River Riasin Models)

1949 Modernized Version with drop center type trucks used on cabooses #02015-02064 and smaller bay window cabooses. This version will be painted with the modern Milwaukee rhomboid logo. Also available in the original paint scheme.
